The one thing I love about travelling in or living in foreign countries is that you will always at some point, come across funny signs where English has gone wrong (although I’ve seen a few funny signs in the US and Canada too!). South Korea is no exception to this rule. In fact I think it leads the world for funny shop names and signs. Below are just a few of the things I came across when I lived there teaching English.

You also find some interesting signs in the bars too. Is it ‘wisky’ or bourbon or rum?? Well it’s all 3 of course……..

And for a country that is on outward appearances VERY conservative about sex, there are some certainly interesting things to be found in the ‘love motels’. Can you guess what this is??

There are also vending machines in the love motels, which on first inspection look like any other vending machine until you take a closer look (I actually walked past this for a day before I noticed what it sold!)

And finally…….. in the subway there are instructions in case of an emergency. Not too sure whether this to save yourself or to kill yourself! It doesn’t look too promising for you making it through at any case!
